Sebastian Åkesson on “Dad” leave – out of Moon Safari live lineup.

Sebastian has decided to bow out of all live work with Moon Safari for the foreseeable future due to his involvement in Dad Harmony, the internet vocal group sensation that was number 1 on Tiktok in Sweden in 2023 and has gained a staggering 2.1 million followers on Instagram. This means that Sebastian and his fellow Dads have events and tours planned at a level that makes it hard for him to do both. So we agreed that he should pause Moon Safari and pursue this opportunity to the max, and we fully support that decision. Sebastian comments:

“It is with a heavy heart that I step off the Moon Safari stage, I wish the guys the best on the upcoming tours and I’ll be in the audience for a few of the shows cheering them on.”

Sebastian has been a great addition to our stage performances with backing vocals and miscellaneous keys since he first joined the band in 2011. He’ll be sorely missed, and we’ll have some work to do reassigning his parts but we’re confident that we’ll do the songs justice as a 5-piece. Anyway, we very much doubt that this will be the end of his participation with Moon Safari. After all we’re brothers. Like, literally for some in the band.

Starting on May 18 at the spectacular Sara Kulturhus in Skellefteå Moon Safari will be doing a scattering of shows across multiple continents to showcase Himlabacken Vol. 2 through 2024-2025. In addition to the already announced shows in Sweden, Norway, Japan and England we’ll be announcing a few more dates and countries soonish.
